May 06
RT Member, Dave Curtin
Born in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Served in US Army in Vietnam then graduated from UVM. After graduate work entered the Federal Civil Service as a foreign affairs analyst in the Defense Department. Lived in the Old Confederacy for 27 years --northern Virginia. Retired from Defense Department about two years ago and returned to my native state. Now live in West Barnet with his wife, Edna.
His  presentation uses my great-great grandfather's experiences as a private in the Fifth New Hampshire to examine some of the key operations of the regiment in the period after Gettysburg. During that time the regiment changes a great deal from what it had been under COL Cross, but, as he will argue, some of the characteristics of the original regiment are very much still on display even through the final days of the war, including a remarkable willingness to go into harms way.
